| In March of 1995, I visited Washington D.C. as part of a business trip . I got to spend the weekend being a tourist. | ||||
![]() This picture was taken from the top of the steps leading to the Capitol. To the left is The Mall. At the end of The Mall you can see the Washington Monument. Behind it you can see (barely), the Lincoln Memorial. To the right is Pennsylvania Avenue. This is the street that connects the Capitol and the White House. |
![]() This is the statue of Abraham Lincoln inside the Lincoln Memorial. |
|||
This is Lafayette Park. Across the street you can see the North Portico of the White House; this is where Bill and Hillary live (at least for now). In the distance you can see the Washington Monument. |
![]() This is the outside of Lincoln Memorial. Like everything else I saw that day in Washington, it was under renovation. |
|||
![]() This is the U.S. Capitol. I believe this is the West facade of the building. |
![]() This is the fresco that appears on the dome of the rotunda inside the Capitol. It's called the "Apotheosis of Washington" or something like that; it depicts George Washington ascending to heaven. |
|||
![]() This is a painting depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It is also inside the rotunda of the Capitol. |
![]() This is the Supreme Court Building. |
|||
![]() I have no idea what this is. I thinks it's some kind of World War II memorial. |
![]() This is the United States Treasury building. It is across the street from the White House. If you recognize this building but aren't sure why, look on the back of a $10 bill. |

This is another picture of the White House. This one is taken from inside the White House grounds, after I took the White House tour. They do not let you take pictures inside, nor can you take pictures inside any Government office building. However, certain parts of the Capitol are excluded for some reason. |
![]() This is the Washington Monument. It is the tallest "building" in Washington. The second tallest building is the Capitol; by law no building can be taller than it (inside Washington D.C.). |
